Walking towards Aoyama-dori.

The Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery

Katie in a small park.

The WORLD'S FINEST LOBSTER on Aoyama-dori.

Sony Computer Entertainment.
We'll return to this building later.

The sign for Aoyama-dori.
Also known as Tokyo Route 246.

A Camaro.

The Camaro again.
Coincidentally, this is one of my favorite places to drive Camaros in Japan.

The view from a pede..rossing Aoyama-dori.
This is looking backwards up the front stretch of R246.

The view from the sa..oking the other way.
This is looking down the front stretch from slightly before the start/finish line. The track is on the left; the pit road is on the right. The start/finish line is directly in front of the dark-colored building.

A PS2 on display in a store front.

An Alpina/Bugatti de..ship on Aoyama-dori.

Further down Aoyama-dori.

My wife rocks.

Heavy traffic on Aoyama-dori.

More of the same.

Greyhound bus?

An intersection!

Honda Motors.
You can see these cars on the left side of the track. Look quick, though, because even in a street car, you'll be doing about 140, and this is near the braking point.

A Honda Airwave.

An S2000 inside Honda Motors.
Note the RHD setup.

ASIMO!

ASIMO walks.

ASIMO walks some more.

ASIMO dances.

A Bentley/Ferrari de..ship on Aoyama-dori.

A service station bu.. of a tall building.
This is on the right side of the track, near the end of pit raod.

Welcome to Playstation Square.
This is at the bottom of the tall building with the Sony logo.

Rob playing Gran Turismo 4.

Rob lapping Tokyo R246 in a green Camaro.

Turn one.
A 90 deg. right hander leading to a short straight. This turn can be taken at about 40 mph in a Camaro.

The second straight.
The Meiji Memorial picture gallery is visible in the distance.

Looking backwards at turn one.

Another view up the second straight.

A Nissan Cube.
Coming soon to an American Nissan dealer near you.

Labrador Retriever.

Turn 2.
Note the fountain, usually obscured by heavy barriers.

Turn 3, as seen from the apex of Turn 2.

Further along turn 3.
Note the netting for the baseball fields.

A closer view of the netting.

The straight leading..180 deg. right turn.

Dog OK on R246!

The baseball netting, up close.

A Nissan Bluebird.

Kirin virtual stadium.
This is on the left side of the track.

The straight leading past the stadium.

A Mitsubishi Minica.

The beginning of tur..0 deg. right hander.
This is a third gear turn, with speeds of 75-90 mph.

More of turn 4.

Turn 4 continues.

More of turn 4.

More of turn 4.

The end of turn 4. ..at's an R32 Skyline.

A short straight.
Speeds can exceed 120 by the end of this straight.

The straight again.
The yellow signs on the left are for a beer garden.

This is a crossroad ..th the previous one.
Just like on raceday, it's barricaded. This road leads directly in front of the picture gallery.

Katie on R246.

The straight leading to the chicane.
This picture was taken right after the left hand, 90 deg. turn at the end of the last straight.

More of the straight.

More of the straight.

The beginning of the chicane.
You want to be tight up against the left side of the track here.

Heading down into the chicane.
The elevation changes are much more noticable in real life.

The actual chicane.
With perfect entry into this section, it can be taken flat out.

A closer view.
On the racetrack, there are no orange pylons.

Writing on the road...te the red pavement.

The smallest car we'..een in Japan so far.
Minis seem to be quite popular over here. This is the third one we've seen so far.

Uphill stretch exiting the chicane.

Turn 7.
A blind, decreasing radius right-hander.

Turn 7 again.

The very short strai.. connecting 7 and 8.

Palace gates on the ..ght between 7 and 8.

A Century. Not the Buick.

Turn 8.
Up to this point we've been on the left side of the track. Due to a lack of sidewalk, we're now moving to the right side.

The track stays to t..vider is barricaded.

This is approaching ..der the Expressway.

A quick jog to the left.

A palace gate on the.. side of the course.

A Japanese vehicle o..ld still be too big.

A slightly harder turn to the right.

The sharp left is visible in the distance.

A better view of the turn.

From the look of all..the guardrail here.

The course continues under the highway.

It's Suntory time.

The course is on the..de of the guardrail.

This is approaching ..t turn on the track.

Another in-building service station.

This is an elevator .. garage underground.

These glass structures lead to the Metro.

The last corner, not..n the front stretch.
Cars come from the left, where the black car is. They pass on the other side of the white barrier...

...They come from th..ight through here...

...and then they tur.. this white barrier.

That last turn lead ..front stretch again.

Three girls trying to move a bass violin.

The front stretch, R246.

Looking backwards toward the last corner.

R246 on the Tokyo street map.
